How to Make Espresso at Home with a Krups

Making Two Latte Espresso Drinks

  1. Buy coffee
    1. buy any coffee that is darkly roasted
    2. grind coffee very fine (for 15 to 20 seconds or buy pre-ground espresso coffee)
  1. Milk
    1. you will need milk; 2% is good, so is nonfat or whole or even ½&½ for richer drinks
  1. Extras
    1. chocolate; syrup or powder will work
    2. cinnamon powder is good to put on top, so is nutmeg, vanilla powder, or chocolate powder
  1. Brewing
    1. put coffee in holder
    2. lightly pack it down
    3. wipe away grounds from rim
    4. put holder in machine
    5. turn holder so handle lines up between "lock" lines
    6. put water in machine
    7. close top
    8. make sure steam valve is closed
    9. turn on machine
  1. Steaming milk
    1. fill container ½ full
    2. start steaming when coffee is ¾ done brewing
    3. put nozzle just under surface of milk
    4. slowly turn on valve until open fully
    5. to make foam milk while steaming:
    6. lower milk container so nozzle comes just above surface
    7. if you lower the milk too far, milk will go everywhere
    8. stop heating milk at around 160° F or when you can no longer hold bottom of milk
  1. Releasing pressure
    1. right after you are done steaming milk, turn off machine
    2. submerse nozzle in a large glass of water
    3. open valve to release steam
    4. just before steam is done remove glass to remove water from stem
  1. Mixing Drinks
    1. hold back foam of milk and pour milk into two glasses
    2. stir in sugar and chocolate if desired
    3. add in coffee to both glasses
    4. scoop on foam milk
    5. put on toppings if desired
  1. Drink up
